Riber Castle - Matlock
Derwent Reservior - Bamford
Riber Castle stands as a watching sentinel over Matlock. Originally built in the 1860's as a private home for John Smedley, it has gone through several reincarnations. It now stands empty. Oct 2001

The villages of Ashopton and Derwent were submerged when the large dam complex was built there early last century. Here, under the summer waters, the remains of Derwent Village lie submerged forever.
