Riber
Castle stands as a watching sentinel over Matlock. Originally built in the 1860's
as a private home for John Smedley, it has gone through several reincarnations.
It now stands empty. Oct 2001

villages of Ashopton and Derwent were submerged when the large dam complex was

Derwent Village lie submerged forever.

Scrambling - Lake District
A
frozen cascade on Sour Milk Gill near Great End. An enjoyable scrunch with crampons
and axe under a cold but clear sky made a wonderful day in the lakes..
Looking
down toward the Derwent Dams. Bleaklow lies in the distance on this beautiful
winters day.
